Surge Swing In Slow Motion

Sun, 11/20/2011 - 10:05 -- Don Trahan

When DJ and I did The Surge Show from his home in Charleston we received a flood of questions that we were not able to get to during the webcast. This one, from Jack Coates, a Surgite from Wilmington, Delaware, is one that I wish we had had time to answer back then.

"Surge:

I notice with DJ, and sometimes with you, that on your backswings the clubs go beyond vertical and tread into the parallel zone. You two are pros and can get away with it, but for us mere amateur mortals, isn't this a strict no-no?

Also, on an upcoming daily video, can you demonstrate the surge swing in slow motion?"

I am not throwing DJ under the bus when I tell you that he occasionally lets his swing go to parallel, especially his driver and sometimes his 3-wood. He is aware of it and it is something that we have been diligently working on to eliminate from his game.

As for the last part of Jack's question, I am happy to break down the Peak Performance Golf Swing and walk you through each of its component parts. Enjoy!

Keep it vertical!
