DJ Tees It Up At The "Blue Monster" Today

Thu, 03/12/2009 - 10:00 -- Don Trahan

Hey there,

This week I will be Blogging daily from the Doral Resort in Miami Florida. site of the World Golf Championship, CA Championship.

I flew down yesterday as this tournament has become one of my favorite stops on the tour for a‚ few reasons.‚  First, after the WINTER we have had, it's nice to see the sunshine in sunny Florida for a few days. ‚ It looks like the weather is not going to let me down either, as the forecast through Sunday looks perfect, with temps hovering around 80 degrees.

The second is the field…‚  with this being one of the strongest fields of the year and no cut, you are sure to see some great golf!

Last night DJ, Charlie Hoffman, Miguel, Todd and I took a Miami Heat game. ‚ (Miguel is Charlie's caddie and Todd is DJ's caddie).‚  The Heat held the Celtics to just 99 points for the win.‚  The PGA Tour treated us to a Luxury Box and a great time was had by all.

Today is the first round of the tournament. ‚ DJ tells me the course is in perfect condition, and if the weather stays as forecasted, I expect that we will see some low scoring. ‚ The “Blue Monster” ‚ is not quite the “monster” it used to be for these guys.

There are several holes on both the front nine and the back that the guys are hitting wedges into. ‚ Unless we see the wind really start to blow, expect to see low scoring here this week.

DJ goes off number 10 today at 11:45 am with Dudley Hart and Don Rose. ‚ This should be a good pairing for DJ as he is good friends with both players. ‚ The good news also is he is two groups after Mr. Woods so the crazy crowds will be ahead of us all day.

So, I'm off to the course… Don't forget to tune into the Golf Channel for the coverage today starting at 2 pm est.

I'll report more on my observations tomorrow!

Fairways and Greens,

Don
