I was asked to explain what the proper amount of knee bend should look like in the Surge Swing. Your legs are your foundation, so it's important to have all the right elements in place before you take a swing.
As you'll see in the video, I like to use the accordion example of how the shoulders and knees go down together when setting up to the ball. Don't overdo it though or you might end up hurting your back and your golf game.
On another note, I just want to say that I appreciate all of the feedback and comments that are posted daily. It's really great to see and motivates me to keep on helping you cut strokes and shoot those lower scores!
Keep it vertical,
The Surge!

Are you still looking for road kill? We have plenty out here now that spring has arrived. There are squirrels, possum, deer, and even the occasional skunk.

ÃÂ Dear Surge, I've been using your swing method for the past year and has really helped my game. Although I'm having difficulty getting my fairway woods off the ground. For the most part my irons from 7 through wedge have really improved getting them airborne and on line, but I usually top my fairway woods, even to a point where I have hit it directly in the ground. My long irons I hit often thin. I can't seem to find the solution. Please send any tips that I may try for my fairway woods and long irons. Deep divots down here in Key
Deep divots down here in Key West, where this is only about 1/4" or less of dirt under the grass, then under that it is hard coral is almost impossilbe for those with swing speeds less than 90mph....... and it is really jarring to the arm and elbows too!

True Doc, X is not a fit for
True Doc, X is not a fit for me. But I have to say I liked the feel and the"sound" of that KZG head. 355cc does not really seem much smaller than a 460. Still plenty big. Anyway nice club.
Good Morning Janet,
Good Morning Janet,
I think that you have a crock on your hands. I just had a 13.5 * driver returned after installation of a new stiffer shaft. The change in shafts had the effect of changing the characteristics of the club significantly. It is now much lighter, and the launch angle was lowered by about 2*. Virtually a new club. I had absolutely no problem learning to hit the ball with it.
I had the same results learning to hit the ball when I had my irons cut down and the lie angles adjusted. Again, it was like hitting with totally different clubs, and I hit the ball cleanly with them right from the start.
Hit'em Long and Straight,
Bob
P.S. See you in August or September
Hey Janet,
Hey Janet,
I'll tell you something that is even worse than buying a club and waiting months to be able to hit it.
I bought my driver two years ago and still can't hit it (at least as well as my old driver).
Back then I just thought that a new R9 had to be better than an older R7. I hit the R7 so much better than the Big Bertha that I had before that I just thought any time I bought a newer driver it would work the same way.
Looking back on it now I think it was just a matter of the R7 having the perfect shaft for me.(It was a Grafaloy blue with a shaft labeled stiff).
I do have a new motto now though. If I have a driver that I hit really well I won't give it away until I make sure that the new club works as well as the old one.

Hey Dick,
Reminds me of a scene from Tombstone (one of my favorite movies) where Doc Holiday is talking to the Earp's and looks over at Johnny Tyler and says "Oh Johnny, I forgot you were there. You may go now".

I don't see Surge swinging at all in this video. Also, though, be sure that what you're seeing in other videos isn't rotation and lift, rather than wrist cock. The only time I've seen Surge show any active wrist action in videos is when he's demonstrating what not to do.

I've noticed that on some of the replies but didn't know what it was. I thought you were advertising Penny Stock. LOL
I've never replied directly to the E-Mail notification but usually go to Discuss Dashboard or here on the blog to reply. Maybe someone else will know. Gives me something to figure out though.
Thanks for the responses,
Thanks for the responses, guys. I figured as much, but my friend acts like such an authority on everything golf-related that I thought maybe, just maybe, there was something to it. Frankly, I couldn't see why you would want to pay big bucks for a club and wait months before you could hit it. Maybe that was just her excuse for not being able to hit her new driver any better than her old driver. Hmmm.

Tennesse hard pan has the same effect. THAT is why I learned to "nip it" off the turf with almost no divot many years ago.. MUCH easier on the wrists, elbows and shoulders. Also produces a higher softer landing shot.

You are right there pal. After all you have already been through to this point, they could make you stand on your head for the last two days and you could laugh it off.

Good finish. I am going to have to start doing that, just to appease the blog police.

So, I was standing at the # 1 tee today, washing my balls. The marshal came by and told me to stop that.

Surge,
Surge,
Been following you for over a year now. You have a great knack for breaking the game down into bite sized pieces and you've helped greatly.
Please tell me about "impact". I'm having some trouble spraying the ball to the right because my right hip is over rotating, causing me to come across the ball outside in.
Today on the driving range, with my notebook (great tip), I found that if I kept my right knee flexed at impact and my right heel on the ground, it helped me get through the shot inside out and kept me on the Ferris wheel. Is this correct, or am I making it up?
Thanks,

The Surge Swing is not an "arm swing." When you do the Surge Swing right, the entire body is involved. Have you purchased the video collection and the manual? They show you everything you need to know about the Surge Swing. These daily videos are really to refresh the regulars on what can go wrong from day to day.

One of my favorite movie lines is from True Grit. John Wayne is sitting on his horse across the meadow from all the bad guys. They ask him what he is going to do. He says something like "I mean to arrest all of you, take you back to Ft. Smith, see that you get a fair trial, and then a proper hanging."
Justice was a lot simpler back then.

Hi TMedley,Glad to read that
Hi TMedley,
Glad to read that you finally got your fitting in. THREE hours on the driving range? That was some fitting session. And I'm curious, what was your sticker shock number??
I've only asked for new irons, though I'm probably going to have to have new shafts put in the remainder, which also means new grips. They'll FEEL like new clubs, though..
Question on a totally different subject: I am totally frustrated with the RSS thing. I subscribed, and set the settings to update q 15 min, but I go back and and it hasn't updated since YESTERDAY. And somehow I found your post about the fitting, but looked at something else, came back, tried to find it in RSS search by author, and no results. WHAT is up?? I've taken to just hitting the subscribe via RSS button when I check out the dialy video.
I've tried deleting the subscription and re-subscribing, and it works for a time or two, and then back to the same old......Any suggestions are appreciated.
thanks,
Tina

A swing every two months might be pushing it.
My current driver of choice is a match of my brother-in-laws. I hit one shot, dead down the middle on a tight driving hole and just short of 300 yards. I purchased one and it consistently hits the ball into places that are fun to be.

Are you taking the July bar?
Dick,
Dick,
One day I hit the jackpot at one of the courses and one of the ponds was almost dry and I walked out there and picked up hundreds on golf balls.
When I got home I put them in a big wash tub with some detergent and bleach and started washing them.
My wife walked through the living room about that time talking to her sister on the phone. I assume her sister asked her what I was doing because I heard my wife say "Ah, he's just sitting there washing his balls".
Palms perpendicular throughout the swing.
Amos: The nice thing about

I could've also added at the end that: when the "swing machine" (Iron Byron) golf swing f*@%ks your back up you will be well advised to seek out the Swing Surgeon to mend your ways and your poor attitude Dude!

Meatloaf, yea, Hey Janet, that's another thing you can make in that crock you're not using. Man am I hungry, where the heck is Dick when you need him. Probably out hitting balls somewhere.
You may be applying too much
You may be applying too much outward pressure. I find my weight at setup is directly down through the center of my right foot. I think that's pretty much correct. After the bump and into the FUS, the weight does shift to the outside of the left foot, though.
Dick: Nope, it's coming from
Dick: Nope, it's coming from some 3rd party (the Troll??) Where's John Wayne when you really need him! R2
