Dan is new to the game and was curious about whether or not he should try using a glove. This also allowed me to address the issue of grip.
I personally use a glove, as most golfers choose to do. It's all a matter of how comfortable you feel with the club in your hands. If you think you could get a better grip with a glove, then try it out.
A glove should last you pretty long if you have a proper grip. In the video I show three different gloves that I have used in the past six months or so. There is hardly any wear in the heel and thumb areas, which tells me my grip is pretty good.
So if you feel like you need some extra security when holding a club, try wearing a glove. Remember to take care of them and they should last for awhile!
Keep it vertical,

went to the range yesterday
went to the range yesterday for 1st time using the new swing, not bad , but am I right in saying that you keep the outward knee pressure on the whole backswing ? Also I seem to be hitting my wedges , which have a narrower sole , better than my regular cavity backed irons , which have a wider bottom . Is this because the clubs with a narrower bottom are better for picking the ball , with limited divots ? thanks

I hope it goes well for you. I look forward to hearing how it went. I too don't like the time and effort required with the on and off thing. I went the other way, I just wear it all the time on the course.

Greetings Bcr- I know of
Greetings Bcr- I know of what you speak--have been using Don's swing for over 10 years and still don't have the "bump" down yet. I am, I guess, what Don Rickles would refer to as "Dummie". Hopefully before I get to play on the other side of existence (spirit) I'll make the connection. Until then I'll continue to be the first to hit (usually from the fairway) 20 to 40 yards behind by golf buddies. Hope you figure it out as well---maybe we were at the back of the line when the talent sales opened. Regards, Ray
Sorry about my mistake, Jack,
Sorry about my mistake, Jack, but when I read the post it certainly had Phil's name there.
OR, at least I thought it did.
Maybe I should be the one taking the pills!!
Apologies to Phil, too. How could I have mixed up the two of you?
Cheers.

I like the idea of wearing a golf glove, but have never been able to find one that fits right. I have short fingers with fat hands. If I find one that fits the fingers, it is too tight around the hand. If I get one that fits the hand, the fingers are way too long. So, I do not wear a glove. However, when it starts getting warm enough that I start sweating a lot, I wear tennis wrist bands to absorb the sweat rolling down my arms. That way, my hands stay pretty dry.

I am stealing this idea from what Dragonhead told us about the heavy rubber bands around his club grips to remind him how far to choke down ( no Doc, that was not an invitation to start up with the chicken chocker stuff again ). You could just put a glove on and then put rubber bands around the left over finger tips of the gloves.

Hi Doc--Was wondering if you ever replied to my question about the Nunchuck shaft (whether you recommend it if you have used it). With this new system it's hard to know whether you get an answer or not unless someone replies within a short time.
I hope your wife is getting better. Regards, Ray

I did indeed. A self-fulfilling prophecy.

The snow in Cooperstown is just about gone; tax season's about done, and Leatherstocking Golf Club is opening on Wednesday. Got in six good rounds in Florida in early January, and looking forward to seeing if my interpretation of Don's swing is still with me. Will let you all know as soon as I find out. I think the golf glove is overrated - too many people wait until on the green to strip the glove off, and until on the tee to put it back on. Time's a wasting! Stopped using a glove about five years ago, and experienced faster rounds and lower scores.

The other choice is to regrip your clubs with good chamois grips. I used them on my clubs for years, never wore a glove, and even in the rain I never had a problem with the grips slipping in my hands.

the hips must and will rotate. It's a swing changer.
This thought has actually benefitted my swing significantly.
