A Simple and Repeatable Golf Swing

Sat, 07/30/2016 - 03:57 -- Don Trahan

How many people think that the golf swing is hard to execute properly? From our experience, many have this belief. It is part of the mission of SwingSurgeon.com to dispell that belief because it is not true if you use a simple, effective, and repeatable golf swing - the Peak Performance Golf Swing! Today we have another video of our "In Your Own Words" series.

A Surgite writes in to tell his story about how easy and repeatable the Peak Performance Golf Swing is even after a long period from not playing. The simple story here is the PPGS is in harmony with gravity, making the golf swing simple and better.

Hi Don,
Your method has been criticized as an "arm only" swing, thus incapable of delivering full power by using the body. As a result, the distance one can hit the ball is limited. Can you please comment on this?

thank you

Surge may not answer on this page ,but for someone like me, who's been with Surge for a while , more distance is not what I'm after. Surge promotes a body friendly swing, Which enables someone like me to play golf with back problems. Rotational is never going to work for me, so I make the most of what I've got. I know how far I can hit my clubs & work with that. I can still hit my mini driver over 200 meters & hit the odd par 5 in 2 . Its all about Quality Not Quantity.

There is a daily coming soon about knowing your distance. Distance is not a problem with the PPGS, DJ is a shining example of this fact at the extreme - his drives are above the tour average. But you also have to realise what you can do as a person. The forthcoming video addresses this aspect of knowing yourself, knowing what you can do. The video comes from Don's own personal experience after losing a great deal of distance after two open-heart surgeries.

I have been using Don PPGS system for about 6-7 years and I hit my Driver around 270 yard and my 3 wood 250. I am 51 and I hit longer and straighter now then when I was a rotary swinger.

sounds good that this swing can produce long drives. I'd like to see your 270 swing

thx for the reply's. both of your comments make a lot of sense. I'm struggling with the fact that only hitting 200 to 220 off the tee leaves me with very long approach shots. One of my main goals is scoring. I would be very happy to post consistent rounds in the low 80's

This is not a arm swing only swing. I will say that having properly fit. Clubs helps a lot. Example if your driver is 45 or 46 inches long it probably needs to be shortened to be able to swing vertically. I'm using 43 inch long driver hitting 240 - 250 and in the fairway. I'm 56 and have had some serious health issues the Last 3 years

yes, I was fitted by Doc 2 years ago and have the clubs he recommended, which includes a shorter driver etc...
the issues I have with the swing are primarily the transition from the top. I tend to come over the top. I know there are reasons why but the swing happens pretty fast

Hi Don - I've tried so much to get the timing of the bump right but invariably end up getting ahead of the ball and blocking it right. Although again, I don't always get it right, I feel I get more success by bumping my right knee forward in the downswing.

I really do struggle to get this essential move correct - I really do feel it's about timing and degree of the movement but the amount seems so critical. Do you have any further thoughts on why difficulty ?

Sounds like to me you are sliding not bumping or leaning.
