From Sleepy to Speedy

Robert is one of my local students. He'€™s a member of the Inner Circle, has all the videos, and knows the manual by heart. He also has a nice swing.

We were out the other day in 40 degree weather and I watched as he went through his bag. Each shot he took was great. His only comment was that they lacked distance.

I suggested that it might have something to do with all the clothes he had on and the fact you don'€™t hit it as far in cold weather. He accepted that, but then I noticed something.

His practice swings were really good and he put a lot of effort into them. But when he got up to the ball his swing was '€œsleepy,'€ like he was holding back.

What we discovered was that he wasn'€™t accelerating through the ball like he was on his practice swings. That'€™s where distance comes from, the speed of the rock (clubhead) on the end of the string (shaft and arms).

We solved the problem.
