Doc Griffin is back today with another installment on his series about Shaft Myths. This one, in particular, resonates with me since I am constantly amazed by how many people jump on the latest fad or "hot" product without any thought as to whether it makes sense for their own, very individualized swing. As Doc explains, golf swings are almost as unique as finger prints and a shaft that works for a buddy whose swing looks a lot like yours most likely won't perform for you because of differences in swing characteristics that matter: club head speed, length of swing, release point, tempo, and acceleration curve. These things aren't accurately measured by eye and subtle differences can lead to big differences in performance.
So do as Doc suggests, if you want to maximize the benefit you'll get from your equipment, make sure it has been professionally matched to your own very personalized swing.
Note: This episode got "lost" for a few weeks and Doc is already back from his mobile club fitting trip to Denver. He is going to Minneapolis/St.Paul in two weeks and Phoenix in mid-August though.

School is going great, I built a new set of irons and am having a blast.

DJ may get some airtime today. There'll certainly be cameras on his group, as he's off the back tees (playing split tees today again) at Noon Eastern with Tom Watson and Brendon de Jonge.
