Earn Your Golf Balls

Mon, 04/11/2011 - 14:58 -- Don Trahan

Dick Lee, one of our Inner Circle members, switched to the Surge Swing last year and has never looked back. Dick had some very nice words about what the swing has meant to his golf game, and he also made an interesting observation at the driving range.

Dick was at the range and watched a few people go through their routine, or lack thereof. He said that the majority of people practicing just grabbed a club and started swinging, without a real sense of focus or thought process. They were just "burning" through their buckets of balls.

I just want to remind everyone that you have to practice with a purpose. Earn your golf balls when you are out on the range. Envision each shot before you hit it and take your time. Take this into consideration and your time on the range will be much more effective.

Keep it vertical,

The Surge!

Hey Amos,
You've been watching me play again haven't you? Ha ha!
I wait for the green to clear MANY, MANY times from that distance after hitting a crappy drive that doesn't go anywhere. What are we supposed to do, kill somebody on the green?

ok before my time then but i was interested in his statement that the surge swing is actually very difficult to do which is the opposite of what Don says. who;s right? dont get me wrong i;m a big fan , no one on the golfing internet gives more for nothing than he does. maybe i;m just no good but i am finding it difficult to do i must say.

I have always said the reason a lot of old sayings are still around after years, decades, and in some cases centuries, is because they are true.

Case in point would be the saying about how hard it is to teach an old dog a new trick. All of us old dogs are trying to learn a new trick. I know in my case, I had to work hard at getting the Surge Swing to work for me. I can only say that if you study, really study Surge's videos, read the manual, and spend some time on this blog every day you will "get it." When it stared coming together for me, it happened fast from that point on.

If you have not already done so, buy the package of videos and the manual. They are the foundation on which every thing is built. You can't build the 2nd floor of a house without a solid foundation.

It worked for me and all the other regulars on this blog. But, we all had to work hard at it to make it work for us.

Welcome to the Surge Nation.
Dick

Ted,

You may have a tempo problem. If you check how long it takes for your old full swing versus your current 3/4 swing and your eleven-oclock swing, you will probably find your 3/4 and 11-o'clock swings have the same tempo, hence the same distance. If you slow down the speed of your back-swing on the 3/4 swing slightly and then accelerate through to the T-finish, you should find that you get back the distance of your old full swing. Take a few of the old full swings and find the tempo, then repeat that tempo with your 3/4 swing. Good luck and keep it vertical.

It is my opinion that Surge is right. As you say, no one gives more for free than Surge. Take advantage of the 10-free lesson offer. Use the search block to research areas in question. Many videos are available on Utube to view, and a complete list of this years videos can be found at the below link. Work on the basics first and advance at your own comfort level. At some point, if you really want to use the system properly, you should buy the Foundations Manual and Course DVDs.

I would guess because it's hard to be in two places at once and to do this week would be a lot of hurried travel. He played in MB yesterday in the Hootie After the Master's Tournament and then would have to hop a plane, spend a week, then hop another plane to come back home to play in the Heritage next week. I'm pretty sure he's using his time to tune up for next week.

To really get down that push you have to really bend your right knee to the point of almost squatting on the back swing. Then drive forward as fast as you can and with every single muscle in your body so there is no way your hands are ever going to have a chance to catch up. Then at the finish you haven't done it right unless your entire right rib cage feels as if it is pulling apart. Usually only takes a couple of holes for the ribs to recover and you're ready to go at it again.

I guess I should put in a disclaimer:
Don't try these techniques unless you have been cleared by a physician and are in close proximity to medical services.
