Alternative To Rolling Over Ankle

Fri, 02/10/2012 - 19:52 -- Don Trahan

Last week I talked about the importance of having footwear that allows you to roll your front foot over the ankle. Before a round or practice session, I even like to practice this motion to stretch out the area before I play. But, what if you can't roll your ankle at all? This is the case with one Surgite who wrote in that his ankle has been surgically fused so he's unable to have that same foot action.

Fortunately, there's an alternative to actually rolling your front foot. In the Peak Performance Golf Swing, we flare our feet out at least 30 degrees. For those of you who can't roll your front foot over the ankle, simply flare your front foot out wider than 30 degrees to a point that you can swing up to a T-finish while maintaining your balance. This point will be different for everyone but this way you can keep a flat footed stance during your follow through to finish, and also alleviate any unwanted pressure on the knee. Play around with it and see what best suits you. However, I will warn you that the wider you flare the front foot, the more you will have to back that foot away from the initial toe line because you will lose your balance points without this adjustment. In the video, I demonstrate all of the different angles and where you need to place your feet accordingly.

So, if you're physically unable to perform this slight rolling of the front foot, try flaring your front foot outward and you'll see a lot more consistency in your golf game!

Keep it vertical,

The Surge!

THANKS DON & Tom for the fused ankle.  I have that.  Now Don would you sometime cover a problem of getting off the right foot up to the toes.  Maybe I have done too much chair time i recovery.
Thanks
Bud

The best finish I watched today was the Australian Women's Open.

Six person playoff 18 year old Jessica Korda won on the second playoff hole  with a long birdie put after Brittany Lincicome had a birdie putt go in the hole and around for a 360* lip out for birdie that would have won it on the first playoff hole and had the best look at birdie on the second playoff hole but missed a little left.

Two Korean women had birdie putts in regulation and all either needed was a par to win and they both 3 putted, sending 6 to the playoff.

Thanks Tom. I'm sure this extra detail will help many decide to "go for it". Seems it will really help many and is certainly reasonably priced. Thanks for all the hard work that went into this project. Can't wait to hear the great results and comments from those who take advantage soon. I'll have to get some fresh footage of my swing asap so I can benifit from the new program too.

 Coach

You are killing me over here in the snow.  What a great idea.  I do have a couple of suggestions.  Large wheels to assist on rough terrain, and perhaps a parking brake.  That should prevent the chair from rolling during the bump and on those pesky down or up hill lies.

You should have closed with "Remember, better golf is just a sit away."

I agree they need to speed up play but don't think a marked line on a golf ball has anything to do with it. I've played with and without it and am just as fast regardless. As for long putters, I don't think they'll be able to ban them at this point. Too popular now and we like seeing putts go in regardless of the type of putter. Why don't they make us go back to persimon woods too!!
Actually I miss those days. Not so much the wooden clubheads but the young boy in my skin that could smack it long :)

 Steve

I do the headlight chipping at least a couple of nights a week.  We usually don't get the course closed till almost dark.  Sometimes I can get one of the other guys to chip with me.  Then I am in high cotton because we have two trucks out there with the lights.  I keep threatening to bring out a couple of sets of my big tripod work lights and set them up.  I would have already done it, but I am not quite sure how the head pro would like that.  Don't want to push my luck and kill the golden goose.

Already grabbed my locker, and the iPad app so I can take it all to the range with me. I must say I'm amused that currently the sample lesson video in the app is one of Hank Haney's guys teaching Rush Limbaugh. Not exactly a PPGS lesson, but does show how the system works. :)

Do you mean that your 5 wood is 42 1/2" or is it really 10" shorter than your 3 wood? ;-)
