As you may know, I have just returned home to South Carolina after three weeks of travel to England, Holland and then back to Orlando. We held successful golf schools in each location and I must tell you it was a lot of fun working with our newest Swing Surgeon Certified Instructors, Malcom Rawle and Leo van Bennekom. I couldn't think of two better professionals to have on the team as we begin to expand our teaching staff both inside and outside of the U.S.
In this video from our London school, Malcom has a very good insight about how our English students had been taught to grip the club and why it was resulting in an improper grip. Essentially, all of them gripped the club in their left hand and placed the club head on the ground, behind the ball. They then brought in their right hand and placed it in a very weak position over the top of the left hand. In the Surge Swing, we want our palms to be perpendicular at all times so I would suggest that a better way to grip the club is to place both hands on it while holding the club at about waist level. Then, and only then, you are ready to address the ball properly.
We also noticed that many of our students, being relatively recent converts from big rotational swings, had their weight back on their heels. Once we fixed that problem, though, they really started hitting a ton of solid drives, straight down the target line.
Keep it vertical!

Unfortunately not as yet
Unfortunately not as yet although we are in discussions with Australian teaching pros who want to become certified. However, in the next month or so we will launch an Internet-based online golf instruction program where, for a very reasonable fee, you will be able to send us video of your swing and have one of Surge's staff analyze it, mark up the video as appropriate, and then email it back to you with their verbal diagnosis and a prescription on what you need to work on.
We should begin testing in about three weeks and after we get our staff trained, we will roll the program out, so stay tuned for our launch announcement.

If you haven't picked up the
If you haven't picked up the Foundations Manual and video series, you're doing yourself a disservice. For $70, the Starter Set includes everything you need, and that's roughly the cost of a single session with your average pro. Then come here and join us in helping each other enjoy better, pain free golf.
John,
John,
First off, welcome to the Surge Nation. As you can undoubtedly tell from the richness of the posts from fellow Surgites, Don's swing is really the Answer so many people have been searching for. And as helpful as these daily video tips are, they will not help you learn the complete swing--for that you need to purchase the Foundation series video and the 108-page, fully illustrated Foundations manual. We have a sale on these right now that runs through the end of July. Look for the Starter Set package.

Surge that was cool to get your report from England as you really have become global.
JohStan,
JohStan,
I'm glad you asked this question. This morning, Surge sent me his final editing comments on two full-length videos on this very subject. In the first one, Don teaches you how to purposely hit a draw/hook or a fade/slice and how to control how much shape you put into the shot. It's really good stuff that anyone who can consistently hit the ball straight will want to master next. The second video builds on the first and walks you through a collection of difficult shots golfers often encounter out on the course. We're calling this one Situational Shots: On The Course and it is a good companion to Don's Situational Shots: Around The Green video. We hope to put both new videos on sale the first week of August.

Walking in the street, we can see
more and more wedding dress stores.
With the improvement of living
standards, the requirements of our quality of life also will be improved. That
is why many wedding dress stores appear in the street. Wedding dress stores at present pay more attention to improve
their quality of service, not the same as the previous wedding dress stores .
Nowadays, the scope of services that wedding dress stores provide
is much wider. Wedding dress stores can not only offer the
traditional services, like affording the wedding dress to the brides to choose,
but also offer the emerging services, such as designing the wedding dress according to the requirements raised by the
brides.ÃÂ
Wedding dress stores also can help the couple shoot the wedding
photography. In this field, they can provide their professional knowledge and
suggest. In my opinion, the most important function of wedding dress stores is making the wedding more perfect for a new
couple.

This video addressed
This video addressed something I've been wondering about -- when to set your grip on the club.ÃÂ I've been doing what the people Surge talks about in the video were doing -- gripping the club with my left hand, placing it at the ball, and then gripping it with my right hand.ÃÂ ÃÂ Now my question is if I grip the club waist high and then bring it down to the ball, how do I know the clubfaceÃÂ will beÃÂ absolutely facing the right direction without having to move the clubÃÂ around in my grip, or if not actually moving the club, then having my arms or hands tweaked or turned a little?ÃÂ Or is it just a matter of changing my alignment?ÃÂ I'm probably not making this clear, but I'm sure ONE of you lovely people will know what I'm talking about!

I start with the club head at
I start with the club head at knee level and the grip waist high. With the toe up and the face perpendicular to the ground I bounce the club head straight up and down a couple of times. This lets the weight of the club snuggle the grip into the fingers to feel how the club is leveraged at impact and into the FUS. When I bounce the club the grip pressure is initially pretty light and when I settle into the stance I firm it up to the pressure the Surge suggests in previous blogs and the manual.

Hi Surge and fellow Surgites
Hi Surge and fellow Surgites and welcome toÃÂ Malcom, you have cleared up the gettting the back arm under the leading arm at address, it is one of those things I never picked up on and probably the cause of my arms feeling a little tense at address. Is`nt it wonderful how in this great game that one small error can have such huge effects. I hope Malcom will be doing some coaching up here in the North of England I would of loved to have been able to meet the Surge in person and thank him for what he is doing for all of us who have been bitten by the Golf Bug.Thanks Surge.
Dan,
Dan,
Here is what we are going to do to meet your needs for Vegas. We will offer on Saturday, a 1/2 day school on Long Game in the morning and a separate but complimentary 1/2 day Short Game School in the afternoon. If we have enough demand for Sunday morning, we will run the Long Game school again. Each session will cost $299, but just $270 if you are an Inner Circle member. So you can sign up for one or both, depending on what you need and your schedule. I don't have exact times yet, but expect the morning session to start around 0900 and the afternoon one around 1300. Also don't know who is teaching, but it is likely to be one or more of our senior instructors, i.e. Derek Hardy, Greg MacDonell or Dave Seeman. We keep a strict 4:1 student:teacher ratio in these classes so if we get a bunch of people to sign up you may have all of these guys! I am working on an email blast with these and other new details for that week. Hope to get it out in the next 24 hours. If you need more help, please feel free to email me at tjans@swingsurgeon.com.
Best regards,
Tom Jans

I'm glad to hear the school was a success and you both were able to get our ContinentalÃÂ fellow Surgites aligned properly and helped groove their swings vertically. Sounds like a great time was had by all.Malcolm continued success in spreading the Surge Swing instruction across Europe I know with you and Leo leading the way the swing will soon spread widely and correctly across the land.Cheers & Happy Golfing.

Thanks for your comments. Malcom will be at Craigiehead Golf Club just east of Edinburgh for a three-day course starting 6th of August. If the three day course doesn't suit, perhaps you can arrange some private instruction before or after. Malcom's email address is malcom.rawle@vr-web.deTom Jans

hi surge, i'm somewhat new to your swing, been getting and watching your blogs on almost everthing you talk about. my swing isnt bad, but most everything goes right and i find it hard to try and correct it. i should get your videos and see if i can learn your swing and make something work for me, cause i get very frustrated with the way im playing but im not giving up so i keep plugging away at it.
Tom,
Tom,
Is there any schedule yet for 1 day or half day schools in Vegas in September? I need the help!!!!, but a 3 day school is too much time for me considering the rest of the weeks events.
Thanks, Dan
