The Surge has a special message for everyone today. This message is for all the Surgites, followers, and readers of the website. This is a message about your health and to not disregarding what may seem as a trivial problem.
Previously in the past week, Don got some untimely news that he must undergo open-heart surgery for the second time in his life. The news comes only four years after his last surgery which you may know about if you are a long time follower. Don explains the issues in his video. The Surge will be on medical restrictions for several months following the surgery. Due to that we will be pulling videos from our archives while he is on the mend.
If you would like to send well wishes to Don please do so by leaving comments here on the blog and they will be sent to Don directly or emailing us at support@swingsurgeon.com.

Very sorry to learn this news, Surge. Thanks for the openness and your concern for those of us who follow you. Get taken care of and come back soon. Many thoughts and prayers coming your way from all over Surge Nation.
Don's surgery
Wishing Don all the best for his upcoming surgery, and in particular also a swift recovery to stability and good health.
SURGE-ery
As someone who is playing golf ONLY because of the PPGS, I want to wish you a successful and speedy recovery. There are many copycats out there who try to in some way to teach some if not all of your techniques, but you were out there taking all the arrows when NO ONE was willing to admit that there was an alternative to the body damaging rotational swing. It is almost a joke how many times that commentators describe a pro as having a "simple" swing when, in fact they are swinging vertical, as you teach. Hang in there, we will be talking to you soon. Don Klein, Troy IL.
Your Surgery
Wishing you the best and a very swift recovery. Prayers and thoughts throughout your surgery and recovery period I'm sure from everyone.

Glad you've put your faith in The Lord that he wants to keep you around here for a long time. You've got a great medical team and hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people praying for you. From an old retired mailman with a bad back, my prayers and best wishes for you. Looking forward to seeing you back with us in a couple months. Dana Hoisington

Surge,
Cindy and I will be sending all the well wishes and prayers your way for a successful fix of your heart concerns. There have only been a few people I have met over the years that have the zeal and passion for life as you do. The two times I was able to attend your events have been highlights of my golfing life. I am still reviewing and applying lessons learned. The way you have poured your heart into sharing and teaching us how to golf has been a privilege and a pleasure to experience. We will be looking forward to your continuing to spread your passion and the PPGS in the years to come.
Get well as soon as possible Surge.
Good health to you,

Surgery
Thank you for the information. I also had the widow-maker (98% blocked) and fortunately they were able to solve my problem during the catheterization with a stent. My best friend had his valve replaced with a rebuilt valve (rather than an artificial one) at The Cleveland Clinic and he is back playing golf again. If you don't mind, I will include you in my prayers for a fast and complete recovery. Good luck in your surgery and we look forward to seeing new dailies when you are able.

Surge's Health
Thanks, Surge, for letting us know about your expected absence and the reason why. Like most of your students and followers, you are more than a teacher to us -- you have become our personal coach, friend, cheerleader and with your continual flow of dailies, a part of our lives that we have become used to. We will miss you so keep us updated on how things are going for you. May God bless you and your family, and may He give you a speedy and thorough recovery. Until your return, tell your neighbor that he can walk through his backyard as much as wants without being in the background of one of Don's videos. Later, my friend. -- Wil Kleck, Victoria, TX

Don, good luck in your upcoming procedures, I'm sure you will pull through it with ease. Thanks for all you do in helping us understand this game, and giving us the help we need to play with some proficiency. I can honestly say that following your advice, and guidance has made a difference in my game, and my ability to play with the consistency I have always pursued. Get well soon, and I speak for us all in saying we're looking forward to seeing you back again at "the backyard driving range". Mike
Get well Surge
Prayers and best wishes to you Surge as you find your way out of the rough and back on the short grass near the pin. Thanks so much for the daily tips - will continue to use them - every time I do I will be thinking of you, the family and the Surgite Nation.
All the best Surge.

Prayers for you friend.
First off a tremendous blessing that this was found and did not cause a problem earlier. Second - this is a great example Surgites that you need to get a complete physical once a year, especially when you get older. An example at my work - the receiving clerk had a growth near his hip that he didnt get checked until it got large - then it was too late. He has 1-2 wks to live according to doctors.
Surge - my thoughts and prayers are with you. This site has helped me get so much improvement in the last 6-7 years in all parts of my game. Please get well soon, looking forward to many more lessons on your great method.

Speedy recovery
Surge, here's wishing you a speedy recovery from your heart surgery. You have such a 'good heart' for making golf easy on the body for many who wouldn't otherwise be golfing. We need you well, beside the golf ball, swinging into the mitt and up the tree! As a side note: I've been waiting for the PPGS school to come to Ontario, Canada. Hope you are well enough to finally make the trip back to Canada. Love you and your PPGS.

Wishing you the best with your upcoming procedure. Ten years ago I actually experience the "widow-maker" heart attack and was fortunate to have survived amazingly with little if any heart damage. I truly appreciate your openness and discussion of your situation. Education of the public is critical; and, you are certainly spreading the word to thousands. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Good luck and God Bless!

Don,
I too had a valve replacement on Valentines day this year. I know you feel good about the early detection but you will also feel so much better after this is done and you finish your rehab. Great job of getting the word out to all the Surgites. Maybe you will have saved others. Good luck to you, and I know you will be playing soon, as I am.

Don's pending surgery
Surgites,
I have been diligently watching the comments since Don's surgery announcement came on the blog. The tremendous following of Don's surgites, students, dailys and friends that have written on the blog today is outstanding.People from all over the world have written today stating how Don has made an impression on their lives with his dailys, schools and lessons.
I am amazed with this outpouring for his upcoming surgery. I have been a student, golfer, and friend of Don for over 15 years. I think he is a great individual, and very passionate teacher of golf.
Thank all of you for responding with your comments.
Now why can't we give Don a great send off by everybody that has not purchased a video of Don's teachings is to go to his shop and buy one. That would be a fabuous get well card to send to his get well room. Thanks

Praying for your speedy recovery.
I echo your caution -- "You can have serious heart problems without pain".
22 years ago, during a routine physical that included a treadmill stress test, my GP said I flunked it. I had no pain running on the treadmill. A few weeks later a heart cath. revealed a significant blockage of the widowmaker. They kept me in the hospital 'til it could be scheduled. They by-passed 4 of the 7 arteries critical to heart function.
For the last 4 years I have been working at the Surge Swing, with glimmers of success. Thanks for the body friendly swing lessons.
Praying for a speedy recovery -- we need you out here in Surge Nation.

Don--Here's wishing you a complete recovery from your heart condition surgery. You are the best teacher period and I'm fortunate to have learned your swing from your first appearance on the Golf Channel way back when and subsequent lesson session in Greenville, SC. We'll all be pulling for you and will celebrate your return to your blog lessons.
Please have someone give us some updates on your progress if possible.

Medical Message
All my best wishes to you, Don. I enjoy seeing your dailies every day, and I love the swing that you developed. It's a shame that you have to be going through this again, but thank God that your problem was discovered in time. My personal thoughts will be with you, and, I hope that you will be back with us all again soon.

Mr. Trahan,
Sorry to hear about your worsening aortic stenosis/sclerosis and occluded coronaries. Given your overall good health, I am confident that you will have a complete recovery and resolution of your symptoms.
Now it is time for you and your family to concentrate on getting you better, as the golf will be there when you return.
Here's wishing you a speedy and uneventful post op course.
God Bless,
