Today's question comes to me all the way from England. Anne Ellis is having some trouble with her finish. Instead of swinging up to a nice, solid T-finish, she has the habit of cutting off her swing right after impact. What's worse yet is that she knows she's doing this.
Frank Veri recently purchased The Ultimate Alignment Video from Surge's Shop.
I'm in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina today attending a PGA of America-Carolinas section business meeting so I thought we would let Doc Griffin have another go at today's daily since he did such a great job on the last blog posting.
We recently got a question in from a student who wanted to learn more about the meaning of lie angle and the overall importance of it. He asked a local pro if he could give some tips, but the pro told him that he first needed to change his swing to a flatter plane with more rotation before he... more
Today, I'm going to answer a question sent in by Greg Bowler. Greg was wondering about the positioning of his left elbow at address. He wasn't sure if it should be pointing at the ground or at the target, or somewhere in between.
Whenever I'm asked to provide reasons or cures for a bad swing fault, I try to give more than one because I'm answering questions that are submitted on paper. This means I'm unable to actually see you swing the club, so instead, I have to try and figure it out based on what you've written.
I get a lot of positive feedback from golfers who claim the Peak Performance Golf Swing has completely changed the way in which they understand and play the game of golf. But, sometimes I'll get some criticism as well. A few weeks ago, I published a daily titled, PPGS & The Vertical Position... more
Finding the right clubs is an important part of advancing your game. Many people go into large, retail stores and expect to find the perfect club just by swinging it a few times. Unfortunately, getting fit for clubs isn't that easy, and it shouldn't be.
If you have any of my instructional videos or manuals, then you've heard me talk about my 5 secrets and rules of the Peak Performance Golf Swing. My daily video blog offers a lot of good material regarding the swing, but it's merely a platform to spread the word of the PPGS and to address... more
When swinging vertically, the golf club should become light and easy to wield. When you start turning too much, the club becomes heavy and much more difficult to swing.
Okay Surgites, it's time again for the Doctor's House Call. I brought in Doc Griffin today to discuss the role of tempo in your golf swing. I handed off an email I got from Dick Anderwald, who was given some advice on the importance and structure of tempo in a golf swing.
Last Sunday, I published a video called Vertical Alignment Position. Today, I want to talk about a student of mine named Vern. He's had some issues with vertical alignment position like I talked about last week.
Today's video is courtesy of a recent lesson I had with a student. This particular student was turning way too much into the sacred burial ground, which as you can imagine, was causing all sorts of issues.
We all want to hit the ball farther. Whether it's to keep up with your friends or your kids, being able to hit the ball with more power is a common desire. Rotational swingers do this by turning even more than they already do. Just the thought of turning that much makes my back hurt!
Since I released my latest video, The Ultimate Alignment Video, I've gotten many positive responses about how much the video has helped drive home the key points of proper alignment.
Last month, I published a daily titled, Correct Positioning of Head & Eyes in Setup.
For today's video, I called upon our director of club fitting operations, Doc Griffin. We had a question sent in from a Surgite named Ron. He claims that he is hitting all his clubs great, except his 5 wood.
You can't play golf with poor alignment. Well, I suppose you can but it sure won't be very enjoyable. You always hear me talk about the importance of alignment and it's because most swing faults arise out of poor alignment. But this doesn't just apply to your long game. Putting alignment is just... more
Many golfers have a few clubs that they hit better than others. Even if a situation calls for another club, they'd rather hit the one they consider to be their "go to club" because they're scared of what the end result might be. What's even worse are clubs that you hit well one day but struggle... more
The Peak Performance Golf Swing is the most body-friendly swing being taught today. Designed to eliminate any of the nagging injuries we so often see in the sport of golf, the PPGS has helped many golfers not only return to the sport they love, but also reach new levels of consistency never... more
Last month I published a daily video in response to Drew Danko's question about obtaining greater distance, especially for senior citizens. Although I addressed most of what he asked, I failed to answer his whole question. So, today I'm going to answer the last part of his question in much... more
I always get asked about my son, DJ Trahan, and whether or not he really uses the Peak Performance Golf Swing. DJ has won multiple times as a professional golfer, including wins on both the PGA TOUR and WEB.COM TOUR (formally known as The Nationwide Tour).
You've heard me say before that most clubs today are built too long, especially drivers. It can be hard for shorter golfers to swing these clubs, and even harder to maintain a vertical swing because of the unneeded length.
Today's question wasn't accompanied by a name, but it's a really good topic that I want to go over anyway. It has to do with the left arm position and the proper mechanics of the elbows during the forward upswing (FUS).
I received two emails from a gentleman named Walt who is convinced that I cock my wrists during the swing. I got these emails awhile ago, but wanted to wait until the right time to release the video.
