Bump Drill to Master the Move

Wed, 02/10/2016 - 14:00 -- Don Trahan

Today I'm going to provide you with a drill that I think makes the concept of the bump much easier to grasp. One of the biggest issues I see with regards to the transition is that golfers either don't bump at all or they're bumping way too much.

Check out the video above and you'll see how I helped our own Master Club Fitter, Doc Griffin improve his swing by mastering the bump.

Keep it vertical!

Ok, just to clarify, the Doc that Surge is referring to in this video is not DOC GRIFFIN. The doc referred to is his dentist.

Love this one. I've been doing it for years, especially when I start getting out of sync and too much wrist action.

I get into a casting issue from time to time and I think this drill might help.

I really like this drill, can't wait to try it myself and with students. The explanation of the effects of over bumping was great.

Surge has been ahead of his time. I recently came back to the bump, I cannot tell, how much better this has improved my game, in the matter of weeks. My balance has improved and I have a great finish at the top. It has improved my game in all phases of the game, chipping, pitching and yeah driving.
