The Surge has a special message for everyone today. This message is for all the Surgites, followers, and readers of the website. This is a message about your health and to not disregarding what may seem as a trivial problem.
Previously in the past week, Don got some untimely news that he must undergo open-heart surgery for the second time in his life. The news comes only four years after his last surgery which you may know about if you are a long time follower. Don explains the issues in his video. The Surge will be on medical restrictions for several months following the surgery. Due to that we will be pulling videos from our archives while he is on the mend.
If you would like to send well wishes to Don please do so by leaving comments here on the blog and they will be sent to Don directly or emailing us at support@swingsurgeon.com.

Get Well Soon
As hard as golf is we forget life is harder. Don have a quick and easy recovery we are rooting for you.
I will second the call to buy a video if you have not. Open heart surgery is not inexpensive in the least.
Don's Health
Don, I was very selfish and sad when I saw your announcement and I thought what will I do without turning on my computer and looking for my daily "Surge" fix. I have never met you, however, you have become part of my private family over the last five years or so that I have been watching the videos. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
Surge's Surgery
I'll be praying for you Surge. I've been a follower of yours for over four years and you have always been there for me with great golf and life tips. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Don, so sorry to learn of your heart issues. Will be praying for you and the doctors during this procedure. Looking forward to successful surgery and a speedy recovery. I know after the surgery this will be a test of patience for you, but you don't have a choice so hang in there and everyone looks forward to complete success and your return to full time PPGS activities. You are one of a kind, Don, and we appreciate your dedication to golf and all Surgeites.

Speedy Recovery...Keep Hitting 'Em Straight
I'm a long time Surgite. We met during the Honda Classic at PGA National very shortly after your surgery in 2010 and walked 6 holes together, following DJ. We exchanged notes on each of our "widow-maker" experiences and counted mutual blessings. Spending that time with you was a wonderful experience and I look forward to taking a lesson with you in the near future, when you're back. Very best of luck, Don.
Don's Heart Surgery
Don, Sorry to hear you have to do the surgery again, but glad that they caught it before disasters struck. You are definitely "one of the good guys" I've met in my long golfing career, and a super instructor. We'll keep you and the family in our prayers, and hope to see you the next time you come to The Villages area. BTW, I've met Tom Limeburger at Harbor Hills and plan to get some PPGS "tuning" with him this Summer.
right arm at address
Surge,
If there is time in the video to quickly review your tip last week regarding turning the right arm in at address please do. I found what I did after using what I thought was correct helpful but may have missed a bit. Most importantly, Bless you and prayers for a successful surgery tomorrow followed by a quick recovery. Prayers are with you and the family as well as the Dr.

Just a line to let you know what a blessing you are to those who are striving to better their game and also to let you know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you go through the times that lay ahead. Godspeed !!!!
Surgery
Hey Don-
I am very confident you will get through this surgery with great success, just
by watching your enthusiasm and drive in life itself. I can't even come close to thanking you enough for all you have taught me about the golf game over the last few years. I never thought I would be close to a scratch golfer, but through your great video instruction I am now a 2 handicap. I've purchased every video you've ever made and hope to purchase many more in the future!
If you Surgeites haven't purchased all of Don's instructional videos that's what you can do for the next 3 months while he is healing. That's where all the nuts and bolts are for his excellent instruction. Once again Surge I appreciate everything you do and my prayers will be with you and your family over the next three months during your recovery.
God Speed!

I was scheduled for the golf school you were to give 6.21.14, in Aurora, IL.
I was so looking for to meeting and learning more from you in person. I have been playing golf for over 50 years and I have learned more from watching your videos than I have from all the private lessons, books and magazines I have read over those years. My game has markedly improved and I am having more fun playing golf than ever before, since I have been following you.
I look forward to rescheduling once you have convalesced.
In the meantime, my prayers and thoughts are with you.
God Speed!

Landing Softly....
Don; My pleasure to meet you late 2012 in Phx. at the Academy where Stretch Conder was shortly thereafter certified. You are as genuine and committed to golfer's and the game as you appear in your dailies, which I have watched since 2008.
Because of your Faith, Family, and great convictions - I know you'll get through this like you say....on and on, solid and square to the target. I should myself know better on health, being a dedicated runner who looks healthy (you might remember that running guru Jim Fix dropped of a heart attack around the age of 50 - my age!). But I shrug things off too often.
I am borrowing this other saying from another instructor that John C. of your Canada teachers knows of: On your way out of this sand trap and up to the green, may you "land softly like a butterfly with sore feet".
Eager to have you back later this season.
Jim McCarty, Mesa, AZ.

Wishes for successful recovery
Hope all goes well tomorrow. Will be looking forward to comments from the lounger on the backyard driving range. Healing thoughts headed your way.
Prayers for you, your family and your doctors, Don
Heavenly Father, we ask that Your healing powers will rain down on this situation. That you would guide the hands of the surgeons, that Your spirit will fill and sustain Don in his recovery and that you would grant peace to his family, friends, and his fans as we wait for this situation, like all others, to be brought in conformance with Your will. Amen
Our Hearts are with you Surge-Don Trahan.
Words can never describe the feelings I have right now on hearing the bombshell news on Don's impending heart surgery : - ( By some miracle I managed to catch part of the live announcement during the live interactive broadcast. Just know Surge/Don you are in our hearts and prayers for a speedy and successful recovery from the operation. You and your PPGS golf swing has given so much to so many. Many of us would not be able to play were it not for your unstinting advice on painfree golf.
From DH and DL in NZ
My fellow golfing nut in Christchurch New Zealand picked up on a remark I made,ie: "God is a golfer", when the weather changed for his round tomorrow, Wednesday here in NZ. May he show us all that this is indeed the case. Please Lord Bless our friend and benefactor Don Trahan on behalf of ALL Surgites everywhere. Amen
